Horses are prey animals so their survival depends on being keenly aware of what's happening in their surroundings. For instance, they can 'sense' danger and act immediately.
When you interact with a horse, they sense your emotions even if you aren't showing them. Horses reflect back to us, in their behavior, the emotions they 'sense' when we come into contact with them.
This reflection provides information that can help you determine if you're congruent with your feelings. In other words, does your outside match up with your inside? Can you hear what your heart has to say? What about your gut? Or is your head in full control? Being congruent is an authentic way to relate to yourself and those around you. It's a wise place to make decisions from.
Equine Assisted Coaching incorporates horses into your coaching session. It does not matter if you've grown up with horses or never touched one - experience with horses is not a prerequisite. This experience takes place on the ground so you will not be doing any riding. And if you are afraid of horses, we'll uncover the gift hiding beneath that fear.
Each experience with the horse is intended to expand your awareness…awareness of yourself, others, and your surroundings. Awareness allows you to discover or realize what message your own body might have for you. As you tune-in to what your body is saying, you become more mindful. This mind-body connection allows you to live in the present moment - not regretful of the past or worrisome over the future. As a mom, this is so important to me. How much time can we spend regretting past parenting mistakes or worrying about the future of our children!
